Yet another deco!
Finished this before rehearsal last night, my entry in a Paris themed deco. I tried to make the velvet paper on the corners look a bit aged but I think it just looks like I'm slapdash with the glue! LOL The heart is a metal one with an embossed pattern.

Book Group
This evening it was my local AB group meeting. We celebrated my forthcoming birthday (Friday) and in between all the eating, drinking, laughing and chatting I managed to do a spread in my friend, Becky's, AB on the theme of school days. Later on, and much more bubbly downed, I made an altered CD! There's lovely gold foil around the edges but as usual it's not obvious on the scan.
Deco
This afternoon I managed to actually complete some artwork after spending lots of time tidying/sorting in my art room when I should have been working on some decos! This is my entry in a yellow themed deco. I loved the quote and knew a vintage photo was called for! Her hair looks a bit green but it is yellow really, honest!

Book in a Tin
This morning I was feeling a bit cheesed off with some stuff and was "sharing" how I felt with Liz! The upshot was that we challenged ourselves to go off and make something for ourselves. I made a little altered book that fits into a Fisherman's Friend tin and I'm going to carry it about in my bag with me. It was done in 90 minutes, i just steamed in and did without thinking which was super liberating! There's six spreads in all, filled with pertinent quotes. I'm really pleased with it and it's really perked me up. ;-) So, here's a few pics of it!
Everyday Book
This is my artwork in Kari's Everyday Book in an RR on my Yahoo group. Every round has a word and colour as the theme. This round was the colour red and the word love if you hadn't guesed already! LOL I was playing with gesso over a magazine page and then adding ink/paint/crayon. Think I'll do some more of this as I really like the end result. Hope Kari does too!

Decades AB Spread
This is my first spread in the 90s book I'm working in for the Decades AB RR I'm in. I'm currently listening to Terry Waite's biography, Taken on Trust, on audio book and when I realised that he was released in 1991 I wanted to do a spread about it for this book. The pic on the right is of a postcard he received while in captivity, of a stained glass window depicting John Bunyan in Bedford Jail, which was inspirational to him. The words underneath are the three things Terry Waite resolved not to do while being held hostage in Beirut - no regrets, no over-sentimentality and no self pity. When he was released in 1991 he had spent 1763 days in captivity, 1460 of those in solitary confinement.

Tree of Life Chunky Book Pages
Taking a break, yawn, from gluing words onto sequins! This is the completed front of one of my Tree of Life chunky book pages. The theme said simplicity to me so that's what I've tried to achieve. I don't work in black and white very often but again, the theme just seemed to require it, so it's good old gesso and stamping again!! I carved the tree stamp inspired by a leaflet I picked up in the library. The leaf sequins are pearlescent so look a bit odd in the scan! There's also green and silver crayon on the edges of the pages but it doesn't show up very well on the pic. On the reverse of the pages will be this quote by Ilan Shamir :
Stand Tall and Proud
Sink your roots deeply into the Earth
Reflect the light of a greater source
Think long term
Go out on a limb
Remember your place among all living beings
Embrace with joy the changing seasons
For each yields its own abundance
The Energy and Birth of Spring
The Growth and Contentment of Summer
The Wisdom to let go of leaves in the Fall
The Rest and Quiet Renewal of Winter

Altered Ring
I was rummaging about in a bag of stuff for a bric a brac stall that someone had dumped in the Junior Church cupboard this morning when I came across a day glo yellow/green chunky plastic ring. I popped it on my little finger and became rather attached to it! So, in a spare 20 minutes before rehearsal this afternoon I altered it and this is the result! Difficult to get a decent scan but you'll get the idea hopefully! She looks a bit unintentionally Statue of Libertyesque but I adore her already and will be wearing her at every opportunity! Great fun!! ;-)
